    Hello everyone,

    I am returning to FidoNet after many years and am trying to find out
    whether Zone 2, especially Region 31 in Austria, still has active nodes, points, coordinators, or routing.

    I used to be active as point 2:316/747.747 and would like to build a
    properly reachable FidoNet setup again. I have tried to contact the
    listed people for Region 31, but have not received a response so far.

    even 2:2 is not answering. ;-(

    Does anyone here have current contacts, a current nodelist source, or
    advice on how to obtain a point or node in the area?

    I don't know how close they are to your area but I know that 2:280/464 and 2:221/6 are up and running. They are both link friendly nodes you you could ask them for advice or a link.

    How did you try to contact him? (I exchanged echomail with him today)

    If you are talking about 2:2/0 I need to point out to you that your netmail was answered this mnorning. Please don't say I don't answer mails, because I do.

    You can get a point-address here, but you already have one in Z1, which functions. Other nodes will likely oblige you too.

    As for R31 ... I receive regular updates for the R31-segment, I think it's an autopilot.

    So you want to kickstart R31 again after your last contact was ... when ... ? ... 30 years ago in 1996?

    I'm all for it to bringing life to that region but it takes more than "I would be willing to officially take responsibility for 2:31 if that position is inactive or needs support..."

    Here's the deal ... how about if at the moment I get you a zone-independent number like 2:2/31 with which you can already aqaint yourself with current Fidonet operations in preparation for possible further steps?

    net 2:316 is no longer active, but you have a chance to get a connection to one of the sysops under given addresses from within Austria

    i am close to Austria but have no exchange with them as i am getting my feed through Germany and Switzerland mostly. :)
