I'm in a semi-rural area. We have a rodent population and two
neighborhood cats who like hanging in our back yard. I'm OK with that.

outdoor cat. Another neighbor started feeding him, not knowing who he belonged to, decided he liked the new house better, and moved in.

The old owner would walk by and see the cat, he'd respond with a
feline "meh".
Funny as it may seem, humans have this idea that a cat can "belong" to someone. It's the most common misconception with outdoor cats. On the other hand, we had a cat who never even thought of walking outside the apartment door (100% confirmed indoor cat).

At least, there are Youtube channels like "cat-brain.exe" or "meow-funny" (I'm >sure there'd be more of those in the recommendation panel). Now who's gonna say
"cats don't make sense"? They're the funniest animals on the planet. :-)

They are pretty funny. Somewhere out there, there is a video of a mountain lion (large, wild cat) playing with someones outdoor swing.
BTW, there's a YT channel of some rich dude who owns a mountain lion and a cheetah as house pets. And a few others who own bobcats. Looking at those beasts, they behave just like regular housecats, except a regular small cat is
unlikely to bite your head off in case something goes wrong... :-/
